The house is a 5-10 minute walk to downtown shopping, restaurants, galleries, river walk, and park. Also, walkable are the rec center/pool, golf course and bowling alley. There are a number of great outdoor activities in the area - two state parks, the highway of legends, hiking, boating, 4-wheeling, hunting, fishing, etc. The space Our home is set up for self check-in, and has keyless entry. We use the August app. You will receive instructions via email from the August Home app, on how to use it, the day that you book. You use the app on your phone to unlock the door. The home has wi-fi. The TV has smart cast. You can cast any streaming app from your phone to the TV. There is no regular cable. There are two beds in the second bedroom. They are stacked on top of each other. Guest access You may use the whole house and everything in it. There is no access through the back door, or to the storage space in the back. We use that for cleaning supplies.

It's one block off of Main Street, walk to downtown, shopping, art galleries, restaurants & a plethora of 420 shops. You will have the entire apartment to yourself. There is off-street parking in the back & a safety hand rail in the shower. TV & wifi are on the premises. If you want to bring your dog, let me know. I request a refundable deposit for pets. The kitchen is well stocked with pots & pans, dishes, glassware & utensils. We have coffee, tea & cocoa, as well as all of the fixin's that people take in their morning Joe. Trinidad sits at about 6,000 feet in altitude. In the summer the temperatures can get up towards the 80's & 90's and during a heat wave, even hotter. There is air conditioning in the front room only. The duplex tends to stay relatively comfortable in the summer, though during a heat wave it may get warm. We have ceiling fans in every room, and by opening the windows at night and closing them during the day it stays fairly comfortable. In the winter it snows in Colorado. Please come prepared for snow if you're staying during the colder months. We have someone who will come and shovel the snow if it's more than a few inches. The duplex stays really cozy in the winter, with the furnace just seeping heat upward from the basement. It's an old coal furnace transformed into gas so there is no blower to dry out your skin. We recommend that you think about trip insurance in the winter. This is a no-smoking home. Any & all smoking needs to be done outside. There are Adirondak style chairs & an ash tray on the front porch and in the back yard. Please dispose of your butts properly. When you check in, Milo, the neighbor's dog may bark. He can bark furiously! But he's on the other side of a wooden fence and he will stop barking as soon as you go into the house. He's really a good dog, he just is protective of his fence. His job is to bark when people are around. You may also see some wildlife in town. In and around Trinidad there are raccoons, possums, deer, turkeys, and bears. Bears are known to dig around garbage cans for food. We haven't had any guests mention that they've seen any bears around. If you encounter a bear, they are usually way more afraid of you than you are of them. Make yourself big. Back away slowly. Do not ever let a bear feel cornered. And just as a heads-up, they smell a lot like a skunk. So you will probably smell them before you see them.

Turkey hunting may be possible on our property with proper licenses for a separate fee. We are very dog friendly, they must be well behaved and not chase cattle or wildlife. Only 2 dogs per visit please. Extra fee may be charged for any damages dogs may cause. No cats allowed due to allergies. No smoking anywhere during fire season. This property has areas that are rocky, uneven forested terrain which may be hard to navigate if very young or immobile. Taking Steps into and up to are required to enter the cabin, bath house and deck. Hiking is at your own risk. You must take precautions to remain safe from wildlife contact. A quaint little cabin in beautiful southern Colorado. Perfect for couples or small families that want to get away and enjoy some peace and quiet. The cabin will sleep 6, but is more favorable to 5 or less. If you have small children, 6 will work. If you group consists of larger people, you may prefer the Restin' that is up the hill. You may hike around the cabin or choose to somewhere more public like the Spanish Peaks, North Lake, Monument Lake, or somewhere near Cuchara. The cabin has a queen bed in master bedroom. There is a loft that has 4 twin beds as well. There is only 1 bathroom, but we now have a washer and dryer. The kitchen has the amenities that you need to cook. There is also a charcoal grill that may be used. You have 2 places to choose from to have your morning coffee or evening nightcap. There is a covered porch on the front as well as a deck with a wonderful view o f the mountain behind. There is a small living room with a TV, and we now have internet. With Verizon you will have cell coverage. We generally close this cabin from December to March due to having a crawl space and the cost to heating it. A washer and dryer. A sunroom with a beautiful view of the Sangre De Christo mountains. Located 26 miles West of Trinidad on Colorado State Hwy 12, 10 miles East of Monument Lake, and 12 miles East of North Lake. This house does not include cable or Wi-Fi.

Beautiful and secluded 4 bedroom 2 bath house, easily sleeps 11+, on 35 acres in the mountains. For those of you who have stayed before, you may not recognize the place. We have put new floors in the kitchen, hallway and living room. We have also cut a hole in the wall between the kitchen and the living room so that the cook can be connected. We now have internet and WIFI. We have also installed a backwash system that has gotten rid of the stinky water. Hopefully no reviews posted after 3/20/21 will mention that the water smells. The Restin' at Weston is a great getaway place to relax and recharge away from the bustle and noise of busier areas in Colorado. The house is over 1600 square feet, with a huge deck on the back overlooking the valley. Both North Lake and Monument Lake are nearby, with great trout fishing. There is also access to the Purgatorie River on the North Fork Greenbelt. Nearby you can find the Spanish Peaks, the Bosque Del Oso, and several other forests and wildlife areas. Colorado towns such as Stonewall, Cuchara and LaVeta are just a short 15-35 minute drive away. Cuchara Mountain Park will have a ski lift going hopefully by the fall of 2021. This will give you several dining, shopping, and entertainment options. You may see deer, elk, turkey and other wildlife from either deck on our house. As I mentioned earlier, we just had wireless internet installed. So far the download and upload speeds have been fantastic. We have replaced the behemoth TV and hung one on the wall. The DVD player has been upgraded to a Blueray player. The selection of movies is ever growing. Unfortunately the Wii is gone, but you are welcome to bring your own gaming devices. As for the water...nobody has missed the hot springs experience. The Master suite features a King size bed and a spacious bathroom with a shower and tub. One of the bedrooms is set up as a bunk room with 2 sets of bunk beds. Another bedroom has a queen bed, the basement bedroom has 3 twin beds and a couch with a pull out. Bedding and towels are provided There are 2 couches in the front room large enough to sleep on as well. The kitchen is fully stocked and spacious, and there is a Weber grill for grilling out on the deck. The family room has a nice wood burning stove for those cool Colorado nights. This little cabin is a gem. We are in the finishing stages of a remodel so we are short on pictures. It will be ready to rent the 2nd week of July It is located right at the Dakota Wall ( considered the back bone of the Rockies) at the Gap on highway 12. There is one king in the master and by mid August we will have a pull out twin in the front room. So eventually will be able to have 3 people.

This is a custom-built log home with all the amenities. The home is available from May 1 to November 1. We are in the high mountain valley south of Cuchara. Sunrise in the morning over the Spanish Peaks, sunset in the evening over San Isabel National Forest. Wildlife roam the mountains. You may see deer, elk, big horn sheep, black bear – all sorts of mountain wildlife. Our home is four bedroom, three bath, on three levels. The loft level is the double bed with ensuite bathroom. The main level is the open living room with fireplace and fully equipped kitchen and the master bedroom with queen-sized bed and ensuite bathroom. A private deck off the master bedroom is perfect for morning coffee or an evening aperitif! The lower level is two bedrooms, sharing one bath, with private exit to the deck. We replaced the carpeting with wood flooring and the warmth of the main room is special. Cuchara boasts two restaurants, The Timbers and the Dog Bar and Grill (where people actually do take their dogs). La Veta, only about 8 miles north, has lovely shops and restaurants. Don’t miss Alys’s Restaurant – best around for miles! The Ryus Bakery and the Paradise Bakery are all musts for breakfast or lunch. La Veta Mercantile offers wine or beer while you browse their shop for artwork or just something to take home to remind you of the trip! Nearby is Lathrop State Park - just west of Walsenburg. Golf course, beautiful lake for jet skiing or kayaking or just hiking around! A drive south on Highway 12 (Highway of Legends) on the way to Trinidad provides unbelievable scenery. Then lake you will pass on the way is great for fishing! The Sand Dunes Monument is about an hour away. Taos is a couple of hours away. We discovered this area several years ago and fell in love with it. We bought a condo two years ago. Now we have purchased this house in addition so we have room for family visits. We aren’t totally retired, so we can’t be there full time yet. So, we would like to share it with special people who will enjoy it as much as we do.

Enjoy live music at the Dog Bar or have an elegant dinner at the Timbers restaurant, play a round of putt putt golf or browse the shops for treasures. Just across Hiway 12 you'll find trout fishing at Bear and Blue Lakes or just meander the lovely hike between the lakes. Drive up to Cucharas Pass, where the adventurous can hike West Spanish Peak. A lovely day trip is 2+ hours to Taos for shopping, lunch, more shopping, and back to the cabin by dark. Or experience a ride on the old time Cumbres/Toltec narrow gauge railroad, also on the road to Taos. Surrounded by pine, pinon and cedar trees, the air is fresh and the views are breathtaking. Rich in history and rustic charm, the town itself offers a variety of places to visit like the Mining Museum just behind the old Courthouse, Walsenburg Wild Waters, Walsenburg Golf Course and Lathrop State Park with hunting, fishing, boating and hiking as well as a visitor center with a visual history of the area going back to prehistoric times. Walsenburg also provides opportunities for shopping with two grocery stores as well as several antique and gift shops on Main St. All these attractions are between half a mile and four miles from the house. The Highway of Legends is an 82 mile byway starting in Walsenburg that loops around the Spanish Peaks. Follow this panoramic route to discover many of the area's historic and scenic treasures. Five miles off the loop, near La Veta, are two beautiful little lakes surrounded by pine trees, Blue Lake and Bear Lake. Bear Lake is one of the most pristine lakes we have seen in Colorado. Walsenburg is the hub of many area attractions within 90 miles to the north, south, east and west including Capulin Volcano National Monument to the southeast (rated 2nd in the WORLD for its night sky star viewing), Bent's Old Fort to the east, Great Sand Dunes National Park to the west, Sugarite Canyon State Park to the south, Colorado Gators Reptile Park to the west, several 14ers including Blanca Peak to the west and Lake Pueblo State Park to the north.
